critical design

Critical design involves learning how to use design as a tool to create not only things, but ideas as well.

10 Problems

II took time and started critically thinking about problems which I encounter often and I came up with the following list of 10 problems which I personally relate to.

  • Feeling super cold easily - Not being able to deal with the cold weather is very annoying and causes home isolation just to avoid the weather outside.

  • Always having to think about what to cook - It is very time consuming and hard to do when cooking 3x a day, everyday.

  • Having “nothing to wear” but a closet full of clothes - Also very time consuming and can leave the bedroom in a mess before leaving the house, which means coming home to a mess which needs to be cleaned.

  • Not knowing how much and what all to pack for trips - Packing is very hard when having to decide how much clothes to take and what extra things are needed based on the destination.

  • Not knowing what is what in the grocery store because of language barriers - Can lead to misunderstandings and can end up picking up wrong products, which leads to wastage of food and money.

  • Feeling unsafe when out alone at night (Street Harassment) - Always having to be extra cautious and aware at night is very saddening because of the potential dangers that one might face while being out alone at night, especially as a woman.

  • Groceries expiring/spoiling too quickly - Opening your fridge to spoiled groceries, which were recently bought, is never a good thing because it is food wastage.

  • Not knowing how to deal with anxiety - Having anxiety and not knowing how to calm yourself down is very difficult to deal with and can cause frequent panic attacks.

  • Unemployment - Faced all across the globe, unemployment is a problem which many people face and furthermore struggle to make a steady income because of.

  • Laziness - Laziness is something that is hard to defeat because it easily gets the best out of some people and causes lack of productivity and stimulation.
