Final Concept - Now You Feel Me
Interactive Digital Bus Stop Poster
Concept Description
The concept is an Interactive Bus Stop Poster that people will encounter day to day while waiting for the bus. The goal behind this poster is to imitate the uncomfortable feeling which people experience when being street harassed. This will be done using either fake eyes or a fake finger which will move with a motion detector. It would follow whoever walks past and make them feel unwillingly stalked. Along with this, the poster will also include a rude slur that will grab the attention of people walking past. This will raise awareness to the topic Street Harassment as it depicts how victims feel when in such situations, hence the name of the concept "Now You Feel Me". This feeling would make people feel uncomfortable and they would then not want others to feel this way as well.
Rapid Prototypes
FIRST RAPID PROTOTYPE - Using creepy eyes on a poster to imitate the uncomfortable feeling within people who see it. Followed up with a QR code that will display a message which will highlight the importance of minimizing street harassment.
FEEDBACK - The Poster could be made interactive and the phrase used should be changed to feel more attacking towards viewers.

SECOND RAPID PROTOTYPE - Using a nasty slur to grab attention and creeping eyes that move based on a person's movement.
FEEDBACK - Very effective at grabbing attention and raising awareness, Use bolder colors, Can come up with an even worse combination of slurs to use, Why limit to eye movement? A robotic Hand pointer can also be an option!
Touch Me!
THIRD RAPID PROTOTYPE - Using a slur which is even worse to grab attention and a creeping finger/hand that moves based on a person's movement.

Concept Presentation
This was the presentation that I presented to the class and teacher. It includes a brief description of the problem I wish to raise awareness for, the concept, and a few mockups I created based on the second rapid prototype.

Final Result
The feedback I received from the previous presentation was to make the mockups more intimidating. I did this by changing the font to one which looks less friendly. I also changed the background of the posters because the previous one looked very fun and less threatening. I also created an actual QR code within these posters which links to a fact sheet about Sexual Harassment in the Netherlands.

Reflection
Overall, I really enjoyed Critical Design because of how I was able to create a meaningful concept around a problem which is really personal to me. I was able to sit down, critically think and really brainstorm and find what problems I encounter in my life. Once I came up with these problems I was able to choose one and began further brainstorming ideas which can raise awareness for it. Sexual Harassment is a topic which needs to be addressed more and I am glad with the outcome of my project thus far as it spreads awareness about Sexual Harassment within the Netherlands. During my final presentation I was very happy to see that my peers became intrigued when they saw the QR code, and I was told that there was a great use of data and visualizations to raise awareness for Sexual Harassment. Unfortunately, I do not know how to work with sensors that would detect and follow motion, but that would definitely be the next step to finalizing these interactive posters. Furthermore, in the final exhibition, it was really interesting to see the other projects which my peers came up with based on different problems. I was able to relate to some of them and it was a great experience to see their creativity and critical design thinking come to life.
